Hi! I’m Kimmy. A stay-at-home mom trying to help Mother Earth! 🌎
Thank you for visiting my blog! I’m relatively new to this whole eco thing but what I lack in experience, I make up for in gumption! I do a ton of research on the daily into the effects plastics and pollution have on our ocean, our planet, and our overall health. And I’ve been working diligently to find plastic-free and eco-friendly versions of all my household/beauty/kid products. I found this to be daunting at first – SO MANY PLASTICS TO REPLACE! – and I’ve noticed there is a lack of resources available online to help navigate this process. So I started this blog to create a place for people to come to see my eco findings!
I live on the beach in South Beach, Miami, so my main focus has been plastic elimination because of the urgency of the matter (plastics, even if disposed of properly, often end up drifting into the ocean, where they are likely to kill sea animals 😢). Plus, the consumption of micro plastics is just plain scary and something I am not comfortable with myself or my daughter consuming. And ever since having my daughter, I can’t help but worry about the state of the planet she’ll be inheriting. Is this beautiful planet on a vacation that’s about to abruptly end? I want to do everything in my power to ensure that it’s not.
My Schtick
I have a J.D. from the University of Miami and have been doing journalism most of my adult life. I’ve done celebrity interviews, covered fashion shows, and written columns about movies and concerts for local publications. And I was the fashion editor for the celebrity news website Hollywood.com. I’ve even dabbled in songwriting and music. Ever since becoming a mom, I’m still searching for my new path and this eco one has been one of the constants that I know will be a big part of my life from here on out.
I’m also a very big yogi and very into meditation. I believe kindness is the most important thing, above all! Kindness to other people, animals, the earth and ourselves. I find it all interrelated with environmentalism: An enlightened mind is at one with nature and respects its importance in all aspects of ourselves.
